There can be 'n' number of reasons behind a particular career break. Different kinds of career breaks may vary from person to person based upon their respective circumstances. A career break is not at all a bad decision. This is a great opportunity indeed to learn and grow. And what matters the most is the very reason behind. Taking a break is as important as working towards one's intended career goals.

💚 Switching from one Job to another : If you're looking for a career that can perfectly justify your talent.

💚 Trying to Solve a Bigger Problem : Either a personal or a professional advancement.

Taking a career break would help only if you are a highly ambitious person. A career break may last from around 6 months up to 1 year. But a career break that goes beyond a time frame of 2 years might be risky. However, there's no hard and fast criteria for how long it has to be. 

The reference period (break/gap period) entirely depends on the nature of problem-solving. Always remember, a career break is not really a career break, if you are gearing up for something really big in life.
